Víctor Font will present Sí al futur in a conversation with journalist Antoni Bassas on Tuesday, 11th June, in Sant Cugat del Vallès

Sí al futur (Yes to the Future, in Catalan), the project seeking to make a new proposal to the FC Barcelona members when the next elections to the Club’s presidency are called, a project led by Víctor Font, will be presented on Tuesday 11th of  June 2019, at 7 pm, at the foyer of the Teatre Auditori in Sant Cugat del Vallès. This will be the project’s third presentation to the public since the one in Barcelona on 31st January and that in Granollers, held last 26th March.

200 Barça supporters will be able to follow the event live. No previous reservation is needed. Access to the Teatre Auditori will start at 6.30 pm, when the doors will open. People will sit as they arrive until full capacity is reached.

During the event Víctor Font will make known the project he is leading for the governing of Barça in a conversation with journalist Antoni Bassas. Font will explain how Sí al futur imagines the Barça of 2030. Participants to the event may put questions to Víctor Font.

11 June 2018

Víctor Font, who on 11 June last publicly announced that he made available the Sí al futur project to all FC Barcelona members when the next elections to the presidency of the Club are called, had already warned that ¨in the next decade, Barça will have to face up to replacing the greatest generation of footballers in the Club’s history and take on the challenge of having to compete financially against clubs owned by oligarchs and states. All that will take place against a backdrop of technology that is rapidly transforming the world we live in. If we want to keep competing at the highest level and keep the Club’s property in the hands of the members, we need an innovative and ambitious project, led by a team of talented people who have, until now, been on the side-lines of the Club’s governance¨.

On 31 January last, at Barcelona’s AXA Auditorium, Víctor Font made the first public presentation of the project he leads in the presence of 600 Barça fans. On 26th March last the first act outside of Barcelona took place, at Font’s home town Granollers, where 300 Barça fans attended the event.

Víctor Font, in Sant Cugat del Vallès media

On occasion of the presentation of Sí al futur project that Víctor Font will do at the foyer of the Auditorium of Sant Cugat del Vallès, on June 11th, at 7 pm, the pre-candidate for the presidency of FC Barcelona has granted two interviews with two local media, Tot Sant Cugat and Qgat.cat. They are these:

Did you know that...

Life in Sant Cugat is closely linked to the hill range of Collserola, with its two high points of Tibidabo and Sant Pere Màrtir, a natural barrier that separates Sant Cugat from Barcelona. In fact, some of that range belongs to the municipality of Sant Cugat, a fact that enables its inhabitants to enjoy the dense natural spots, which seem amazing for a city so close to Barcelona. The Collserola forests also know of Barça’s history, as the Club used to frequent a small hotel in the small town of Vallvidrera, to concentrate the players before important matches. And it was in one of these that one of the most extraordinary events took place. In January 1981 the team trained by Helenio Herrera had spent the night before a derby against Español in that hotel. When the time came to descend to Barcelona, a most unexpected snowfall blocked the roads. It was impossible to move from there. And then someone thought that the only way out of that mousetrap was using public transport. It may sound incredible for today’s standards, but some Barça players headed on foot for the cable-car station in the centre of Vallvidrera, hopped on one of the convoys mixing with the passengers and arrived in Barcelona. Once there, they had to make a run for Español’s Sarrià stadium, which they accessed among the crowds of fans who could not believe what they were seeing. A fairly recent image that to us may seem now from another planet.
